Well, I know that my Canadian friends often complain about their mail service and fair enough, I've had a couple of unpleasant experiences with packages taking forever to arrive too, but at the moment all I can say is 'Wow!'. Some of my 'friendship socks' started their journey really late, but German Post and Canada Post worked at lightening speed and delivered them in time for Christmas to the lovelies ladies I met last summer. Woo Hoo!
We had a whale of a time in Vancouver with Kelly showing us around, so I picked a yarn for her that reminded me of the terrific view we had from Granville Island with lots of blue to be seen: the sky, the water, and even blue skyscrapers (which I just realized when I looked at the pictures again). The yarn is Knitsch Yarns Merino Sock in 'Hydro' and it feels terrific knit up.

The pattern I picked reminded me of all the boats in the marina

and I'm so glad Kelly loves her socks and they fit. Kelly has even chosen a name for the pattern already: 'Burgoo' after the pub we went to when we were exhausted from yarn shopping. I love it - it'll put a smile to my face whenever I read it. What an awesome memory. :)
But that wasn't even all: a second pair sent at the same time made it also! For Eryn, who loves the colour orange, I knit up this wonderful skein of yarn:

Sun Valley Fibres Merino Cashmere Nylon. So, so soft and such a pleasure to knit. I do admit that I was tempted to keep these cosy socks...

but I am more than happy they found a new loving home at Eryn's and will keep her feet warm and toasty during the long Canadian winter. I guess it's a lot colder than when we met... who would have thought that temperatures go above 40°C in Canada in the summer, lol. So the colour 'pictures' the hot weather we experienced. ;-)
