I couldn’t help the title, because I just realized I should have written this post a couple of days ago on Star Wars Day, May the 4th, lol.
My friend Laurel is not only the dyer of beautiful yarn, such as the fun Twisted Sisters I used in this project, but also the mother of 7 wonderful kids. How she still finds the time to knit for her folks and her Ravelry friends I don’t know, but she always has lots of projects on her needles. Now her son Ryan wishes for a new blanket for his birthday – and that’s quite a lot to knit in only a couple of months, so some Rav friends volunteered right away to support her. Ryan turns 12, so these blanket squares can’t be our usual squares with cute motifs we often do when a baby arrives, but they have to be more suitable for a pre-teen. Ryan picked the colours himself and really, this boy has an eye for colour combination, don’t you think?

Most of the squares are supposed to be garter stitch squares, but to make the blankie even more special Laurel had the idea to add in a few themed ones – and since Ryan is a fan of Star Wars… here’s my contribution

Well, I was reminded once again that stranded knitting is not my favourite technique when knit in rows, but it’s legible and all that’s left to do is to hope that Ryan won’t mind some uneven stitches in his blanket. I can't wait to see the finished blanket!
