Phew, why is that when coming back from holidays there's always so much to do and there's so little leisure time? Still lots of things waiting on my desk for my attention, but I can't wait any longer to tell you about the 'yarny surprise' that was waiting for me in Ireland. But I've got to give you the background first: We go to the Canaries at least once a year and usually around the same time. Well, we are not the only ones who do that, so over the years we've met a lovely Irish couple again and again. And became friends. :) When we met last time, I told them that I bought a new to me yarn from a German online shop, Mein Wollshop, and that I discovered later that Life in the Long Grass is from their hometown. They had never heard about it, but then, they don't knit. I had almost forgotten that bit of chatter…
Now, this summer we went to visit them in Ireland and we had hardly arrived when we were told that we would go on a trip. Can you guess where this car is heading to?

Here…

They not only found out about the dyer I told them about months ago, but they also got in touch and Caroline was so kind to invite us. Squee! What a terrific surprise. So this is the place where

these beauties come from. We got to see where the magic happens and we were even allowed to have a glance at the secret ‘colour recipe’ book

and fondle yarn..

and more yarn

And when Caroline and I started to talk yarn and patterns we obviously forgot that there were any other people around.

‘N17’ got us chatting – but at this time I can’t tell you anything about it other than that the N17 is an Irish national road and also the name of a song by my favourite Irish band, the Saw
Doctors. 'Stone walls and the grass is green...' Wanna listen? Here.
And promised, you’ll hear more about the N17 we talked about in a couple of weeks.
Anyway, it felt like we’ve known each other forever, and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting Caroline. I only wish we had have a bit more time and I wouldn’t have objected if this suitcase -

containing Caroline’s yarn for markets - could have travelled home with me, lol.
What an absolute fantastic surprise our friends prepared for me! Thanks millions for inviting us to visit, Caroline! I really do hope we’ll meet again.
