Well, embarrassing as it is, this thing

took me, hm, years to knit. But it was not the knitting that took me so long, but to get started at all. I have no idea what I was thinking when I promised my niece a couple of years back to knit her a monster (if I recall it right, it was her 23rd birthday and she's 27 now...), because I hardly ever knit toys. It’s usually not the knitting I don’t like, but all the assembling there is to do. In this case it was even worse because I promised to knit it in her favourite colour: pale pink, one of the colours I am so not a fan of… and even though it’s silly, it slows my knitting down when I have to work with yarn that I don’t enjoy.
Anyway, years ago Jenny chose the pattern – Bea the Basement Monster from the book The Big Book of Knitted Monsters by Rebecca Danger - and I had really meant to knit it that year for x-mas, but all I managed was to buy the yarn… which I re-discovered the other day when going through my stash. Well, Jenny still loves the colour and she’ll be here for Christmas this year, so tonight she’ll get to unwrap the promised monster. Let’s hope she still wants to have one…
