When I work on projects with more than one yarn, I tend to stick to the same yarn weight and often enough even the same brand to get the result I want. So when SweetGeorgia Yarns asked for patterns that use yarns of a different weight, I was hesitant at first, but intrigued by the idea. So it was time for swatching... and here is what I came up with:

Penna is knit from SweetGeorgia Yarns Merino Silk Fine, a smooth light fingering weight yarn from Merino and silk, and SweetGeorgia Yarns Silk Mist, a fuzzy cobweb lace from silk and kid mohair. So not only are the yarns of a different weight, but the texture is very different as well.

Stripes in a tiny raindrop pattern blend with with stripes in elongated stitches. Isn't it amazing, how difference can create so much balance?

The pattern is part of the collection Fall with SweetGeorgia, Vol.2 and is available at from the SweetGeorgia Yarns website, here.
